This month, Warner students put on an amazing rendition of Annie Jr. for all teachers, parents, and fellow students to come and enjoy. Kaitlyn Carlson, a seventh grader here at Warner said, “You could really tell  how well thought out it was and how much time and effort was put into it. So much emotion and effort was  put into their singing.”

Kaitlyn was definitely not the only one who thought the musical was well done. Theatre teacher and Annie Jr. director Mrs. Rea discussed how she loved that “The cast came together to do their best and make each performance awesome.”  Mrs. Rea also said she wanted to do Annie Jr. because “Annie is a really popular musical that is still contemporary today because of its message of hope.”

Annie is a musical that is set in 1930s Depression-era New York City.  Young Annie lives in a horrible orphanage with her friends and the cruel Ms. Hannigan.  She is invited to spend Christmas in the home of Mr. Warbucks, a wealthy businessman who doesn’t have any children of his own. During this magical time, Annie learns about the lengths that people will go to when trying to get rich. She also brings hope and joy to her friends, and, ultimately, “Daddy Warbucks.” Mrs. Rea is definitely correct when she talked about Annie’s message of never giving up hope!

Baylee Chittenden, a running crew member who is in eighth grade talked about her love of the fact that the cast and crew was able to make “Nothing into something, and everyone had so much fun being a part of it.” Whether you were a part the audience or a member of the cast and crew, Annie Jr. is definitely one of the best musicals Warner has ever put on.
